    Friday, November 30, 2018 Jolly Old St. Nick Concert Time: 6:30-8 p.m. Ring in the holiday season with Elmhurst’s festive annual celebration of the city’s German roots. Hear authentic carols performed by traditional local German choirs, Damenchor and Männerchor. Jolly Old St. Nick will join the festivities to explain the history of his legend and take photos with guests. Hot cocoa and treats will be provided. Children are encouraged to wear their pajamas. Donations for the giving tree to support Yorkfield Food Pantry gratefully accepted. No registration required, all ages welcome. Location: Yorkfield Presbyterian Church, 1099 S.   7. Motivational speaker Candace Doby to Discuss Travel, Being Black and Doubt on Nov. 14

    Candace Doby didn’t begin traveling internationally until she was 27, out of fear of physical harm, rejection from people at home and abroad, and failure. A motivational speaker and marketing executive at Chipotle Mexican Grill, Doby eventually found the tools to help her manage her fear, and has since traveled to 14 countries. As part of International Education Week, Doby will present Travel, Being Black & Doubt on Nov. 14.

    Experience the nostalgia and sentiment of Frank Capra’s 1946 classic film though a private collection from Richard Goodson of rare memorabilia including vintage posters, photographs, collectibles, and more. Additional objects from EHM’s collection will be on display, including handmade ornaments from Dresden, Germany and original prints by former Elmhurst resident Lee Sturges, a well-known American artist and etcher.     Come join us for the first tree lighting ceremony in Elmhurst!
