Elmhurst Cycling Classic

Designed as a family-friendly event to draw visitors to the community, the Classic offers amateur and professional racing, fun, food, and entertainment for all ages. Last year’s men’s pro series race took place at twilight under a lighted course. The unique set-up provided a dramatic setting to take in the speed of the top racing flight. Wilder Park featured an expansive playground for kids, a cooling station, plenty of shade and nearby attractions in the Elmhurst Art Museum, Elmhurst Public Library and the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art.

Wilder Mansion transformed into a beer garden and food court. An additional Expo area on Prospect Avenue included antique ambulances from Superior Ambulance and goodies from race day vendors.  Families with kids of all ages were invited to join a fun bike ride around the professional course at 6:45 p.m.

Proceeds from the Elmhurst Cycling Classic were distributed to area charities.  The event has succeeded in donating over $21,000 in just its first two years.  Past beneficiaries have included United Community Concerns, Yorkfield Food Pantry, Elmhurst Children’s Assistance Foundation, Elmhurst Walk-In Ministry, District 205 Foundation, Elmhurst Memorial Hospital Foundation, and more.

The Elmhurst Cycling Classic is the primary fundraiser of the DuPage Cycling Foundation. The DuPage Cycling Foundation raises funds for community non-profits primarily in Greater DuPage County, through the hosting and promotion of cycling-related events.  The DuPage Cycling Foundation prioritizes non-profits whose missions support the enrichment of community health and education.  In conjunction with founding organization Elmhurst Masters Competition Cycling, Inc. (EMC2), DCF may also support charities which utilize bike racing or bike rides as a form of fundraising.

This event happens in July of every year.
