Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra
From The Beatles to Bach, Beethoven and Brahms, John Williams to Ralph Vaughan Williams, Mancini to Mozart and Mendelssohn—and more—the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra offers musical adventures that will appeal to every taste.
Known for its excellence, its collaboration with other musical and arts groups and its innovative programming, the award-winning ESO, under the baton of its superb Music Director and Conductor, Stephen Alltop, presents five concerts each season at its home venue, the spectacular state-of-the-art space of Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church, and three chamber concerts in the intimate setting of Mayslake Peabody Estate in Oak Brook.
Highlights of this and recent seasons include astronaut Dan Tani conducting Star Wars, Tony Award-winning actor Brian Dennehy narrating Copland’s A Lincoln Portrait, images by renowned visual artist Ben Whitehouse accompanying Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, and members of the DuPage Dance Academy and First Folio Theater Company in Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the Animals—just a few among many memorable concerts. Well-loved symphonies, choral masterpieces, and major works performed by acclaimed soloists have headlined programs throughout Stephen Alltop’s 20-season leadership of the orchestra.
The concert experience is enhanced by free informative and entertaining pre-concert lectures. Every member of the ESO team--from Maestro Alltop and the professional musicians and accomplished community musicians who make up this cultural gem of the western suburbs to staff and volunteers--is dedicated to giving you a concert experience that you will long remember.
